RBS and Golf

Driving ambitions

Today, Jack Nicklaus, Luke Donald and Paula Creamer fly the flag for RBS around the world. But we've been supporting golf for more than 100 years, through great relationships with top events and governing bodies.

With 18 Major titles to his name, there's no better ambassador for golf or RBS than Jack Nicklaus. However, in Luke Donald and Paula Creamer, we support two of the most exciting current players. All three play a visible role in our grassroots programme, attend customer events and appear in advertising and marketing campaigns.

RBS is also proud to have had a relationship with the R&A that goes back more than a century. We are a patron of The Open Championship and enjoy Official Bank status as well as extensive advertising and branding rights.

In America, we are corporate partners of the United States Golf Association and a proud patron of the PGA of America. In addition we are involved in the 'Play Golf America' grassroots programme. This last partnership creates ongoing brand awareness opportunities for our businesses in the US, including Citizens Bank and Charter One.

Since 2004, we have also been a National Trustee of The First Tee, a non-profit organisation in the US that uses golf to teach life skills to disadvantaged young people. And in the UK, talented young golfers benefit from The Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Championship in association with RBS - the world's largest junior competition with entries from more than 1000 clubs and 45,000 golfers.
