Few men in golf can say they've wiped the name of Tiger Woods from the record books. Meet RBS ambassador Luke Donald.

Since turning professional in 2001, Luke has established himself as one of the top golfers in the world, and is tipped as the man to end Britain's long wait for a Major winner.

That means an almost inevitable showdown with Woods, the world number one. However, it's not likely to be a prospect that will frighten the Englishman, who made his mark as a student at Chicago's Northwestern University, winning the American collegiate title and breaking Tiger's scoring record in the process.

An outstanding amateur career has been followed by success on both sides of the Atlantic. Luke has won twice on the European Tour, and twice in the US. He partnered Paul Casey to a World Cup win for England in 2004, and has played a significant role in two of Europe's recent Ryder Cup victories. He also broke into the world's top 10 for the first time in 2006.

Luke travels the world with his caddy brother Christian, but another partnership - with sponsor RBS - is also important to him. "Everything RBS do, they do with passion," said Luke, who we've sponsored since 2003. "They don't ever do mediocrity."

"They've got behind some great ideas - like the First Tee programme, which teaches kids about golf and about values, and opens new doors for them. For me, it's good to give something back to golf."

However, there are other advantages to working with RBS. "I've got to work with Jack Nicklaus, and that's been a huge highlight and honour," said Donald, who partnered his fellow-RBS ambassador for his last-ever competitive round, at the 2005 Open in St Andrews.
