In 2006, NatWest became title sponsor of NatWest Pro40, the hugely successful domestic one-day league.
Two divisions of nine teams compete in 40-over contests between July and September – there were 73 matches in 2007 – culminating in a play-off to decide promotion and relegation.
In stark contrast to Worcestershire's success, Warwickshire and former champions Essex were relegated. Durham and Somerset gained automatic promotion from Division Two, while Middlesex upset the odds to defeat Northants in the promotion play-off.
Division One 2008: Durham Dynamos, Gloucestershire Gladiators, Hampshire Hawks, Lancashire Lightning, Middlesex Crusaders, Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Somerset Sabres, Sussex Sharks, Worcestershire Royals.
Division Two 2008: Derbyshire Phantoms, Essex Eagles, Glamorgan Dragons, Kent Spitfires, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Yorkshire Phoenix, Leicestershire Foxes, Surrey Lions, Warwickshire Bears.
